Join the National Park Service to commemorate the close of its centennial year with a walk through its keystone project, the Centennial Forest. See the result of the work of hundreds of volunteers as you walk among 100,000 newly-planted longleaf pine seedlings, growing amidst other longleaf pines of all ages and sizes. And learn about longleaf pine ecology and the role this threatened ecosystem plays in the future of the Big Thicket.
This off-trail hike crosses over rough terrain. Participants should wear long pants and good walking shoes and bring water and snacks.
Space on this walk is limited to 30 participants. For more information and to register, please call our visitor center at 409-951-6700.
