Chapter Meeting

January 19, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

(From President, Randy Beehn)

Happy New Year!

You are receiving this email if you are Active (paid dues for 2016), In Training, or a listed Adviser for the Sabine Neches Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist.

I wanted to take this opportunity to invite you to the January 19, 2017,  Monthly Chapter Meeting of the Sabine Neches Chapter. You heard right, January Chapter meeting.

The members that attended the December meeting / Christmas celebration voted to start having monthly chapter meetings in an effort to accomplish several things:

  1. to improve member participation in our chapter meetings,
  2. to increase the opportunities for member to meet their annual Advanced Training requirements by attending chapter meetings, and
  3. to provide more opportunities for members to be involved in the planning of future chapter events and activities.

We will start the meeting with a training refresher on the VMS system. We have added several opportunities in the system. In addition we wanted to update you on our observations on the first year of volunteers inputting hours VMS. This training will count as AT.

The other main item on the agenda is a member planning session on activities and events for 2017. We are looking for ideas that will increase the excitement around member participation in this year’s events and activities. We need some field activities and chapter meetings outside of a conference room setting.

Bring your calendars and your ideas and let’s plan for an exciting 2017 where we continue to develop corps of well-trained “Master Volunteers” to provide education, outreach, and service dedicated toward the beneficial management of natural areas and resources within their (our) communities for the State of Texas.”

I hope to see you on the 19th.
