Little Thicket Nature Center – Open House
Meet with like-minded nature enthusiasts at Little Thicket Nature Sanctuary this Saturday, March 23 for fun and fellowship. Join a group nature walk on some of the many trails or join a work party to help with trail and land maintenance tasks.
Sandyland Bluebonnets (Lupinus subcarnosus), Baby Blue Eyes (Nemophila phacelioides) and Texas Ragwort (Senecio ampullaceus) are beginning to bloom, particularly in the King’s Hill meadow.
Prairie Indian Plantain (Arnoglossum plantagineum) is showy right now at J.H. Cullinan Meadow and there is a good amount of water in the wetlands pond – a nice photo op for those interested in a longer walk.
There is no potable water at LTNS; bring your own water and any food you will need for a day in the woods. We also recommend that you wear closed-toed shoes, a good shade hat, apply plenty of sunscreen and bring insect repellent. The sanctuary has outdoor latrines that are well maintained.
LTNS is located at 2001 FM 945 South, Cleveland, TX 77328. (Google Maps calls it “2001 FM945” or you can search “Little Thicket Nature Sanctuary” for accurate GPS guidance.)
A map with directions to LTNS is available on our website:
