Volunteer Opportunity – November 23rd
The Bamberger Ranch needs volunteers to help with: 1) maintaining the native grasses demonstration garden and 2) grooming/refreshing the nature trails. Both activities are part of an ongoing effort to keep up with an ever-changing wildscape.
Native Grasses Demonstration Garden – The primary objective is to remove any vegetation from these plots that are not the designated species. Any vegetation that is removed will be placed in a nearby pile for later removal by the ranch staff. If time permits, we may transplant some grasses. Recommended tools include gloves, kneepads, weeders, trowels, and spades.
Groom/Refresh Nature Trails – The following is a list of goals with respect to maintaining the nature trails.
While we will start with the Arboretum Trail, we hope to eventually address the needs of all trails.
All Activities – Volunteers are to meet in the Margaret Bamberger Research & Education Center (MBREC) parking lot at 10 am. The plan is to be finished by no later than 1 pm. In addition to the above lists of tools, recommended tools include hats, sunscreen, insect repellant, water, and snack/lunch. If you are interested in the above volunteer activities, please let me know so I can inform the ranch staff who to expect and on which date.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
