Birding in West Texas

There are an amazing number of birds that either live on or migrate through the Llano Estacado. The Midland Naturalists, our sister organization, is a dedicated, avid group of birders that goes on field trips to bird most Saturdays throughout the year and participates in the Christmas Bird Count, Big Day Counts and more. This is a great way to learn about birds. Both Midland Naturalists and Master Naturalists use eBird to document birds on scheduled bird counts or BioBlitzes as part of community science. To get started on your birding adventure, check out some of these informative links or files. And don’t miss the tour of West Texas Birds with photos and audio from our very own member, Bill L.
