2020 Initial Training Classes

Thank you for your interest in Texas Master Naturalistâ„¢, Lower Trinity Basin Chapter. The mission of the Texas Master Naturalist program is to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities for the State of Texas.

To become certified as a Master Naturalist through the Lower Trinity Basin Chapter, trainees must fulfill the following requirements:

Attendance at all training classes including 3 field trips, plus

40 hours (minimum) of volunteer service on approved projects within a year, and

8 hours (minimum) of advanced training in approved classes within a year.

To maintain active status, Texas Master Naturalists must annually complete (at minimum) the following:

40 hours of volunteer service on approved projects, and

8 hours of advanced training in approved classes.

The first class is Saturday, February 8, at 9:00 a.m. to noon, at First United Methodist Church, Mont Belvieu.

Subsequently, Thursday classes will be held at 6:15 p.m. on the days designated in the class schedule. Most classes will be held at First United Methodist Church, 10629 Eagle Drive, Mont Belvieu, Texas 77580. Field trips will be held on Saturdays. The fee for this training session is $175.00.

The class will be limited to 20 participants. Selection criteria include interest in the program, availability for volunteer service and commitment to stewardship of local natural resources.

Background Check: All members must submit and pass a YPS/CBC background check as performed and paid for by the State of Texas.

You must mail the $175 total fee at the same time you submit your application. Please make checks or money order payable to Lower Trinity Basin MN.

The application deadline is January 24, 2020.
