Chapter members visited Corpus Christi and surrounding areas in March 2025 for the annual chapter field trip. They visited the Port Aransas Nature Preserve, Leonbelle Turnbull Birding Center, Joan and Scott Holt Paradise Pond, Charlie’s Pasture, Rockport Beach, Mustang Island State Park, International Crane Foundation Center, Powderhorn Ranch Wildlife Management Area, Texas State Aquarium, and Hazel Bazemore Park.
Below are highlights from chapter members about their experience.

The highlight for me as far as birds go was Lucy’s Warbler. Although that bird “should not have been there”, it was at Paradise Pond early in the morning when Chris and I popped in. Chris got some really nice shots of it as you’ll see below.
We know the family of Joan and Scott Holt with Paradise Pond so it made it even more special. I saw Joan’s sisters, Nancy and Cynthia, on Saturday, and told them about the sighting. They were thrilled! Joan had been alerted through E bird that it was there and went there, but she never got to see it. Her sisters were so happy someone they knew did and got shots.

Here is a video I took of a pair of whooping cranes that we saw (as a group) while driving/stopping at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge.
