Chapter Business Meeting at 6 pm
Speaker at 7 pm
Jessie Woodall will discuss which bats you might find in your backyard, why we need them, and ways you can help. This will also include things to look for in a bat house. She has her own Bat rescue in Springtown, TX called JW Bats.
Bio by Jessie:
“JW Bats is a new facility that started around three years ago. I am not a 501(c). I chose to volunteer my time and money to help these essential creatures thrive in the world. Over the last seven years, I’ve worked with raccoons, squirrels, and opossums. When my boys found an Eastern Red mama with three pups in our backyard five years ago, I discovered a tremendous need for our native bats. I quickly started training under Mrs. Kate from Batworld Midcities and received my wildlife permit in 2021 specializing in bats.
My “professional” volunteer jobs consist of being available 24-7, driving 400 miles or more a week transporting injured, orphaned, or misplaced bats. Being a caretaker 24-7 on average, depending on the season, 3-12 weeks. I started educational presentation this year in hopes to spread more awareness about why we need bats.”
