Water Webinar: Freshwater Mussels

June 18, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Approved Advanced Training
Log your hours to AT: Texas Water Certification Training with Freshwater Mussels in the “Describe Your Training” box.  Thank you.
Liz Johnston is an Environmental Program Coordinator with the City of Austin, Watershed Protection Department. She has over fifteen years’ experience working on issues related to environmental policy and urban ecology. Along with her duties coordinating environmental issues related to Austin’s lakes, wetlands, and other environmental features, she is also hoping to build a mussel program within the City of Austin.
Liz’s webinar will give an introduction to native freshwater mussels (Unionids) in Texas creeks. Viewers will gain an understanding of why these highly threatened, yet often-overlooked organisms, are gaining more attention from environmental policy makers. Additionally, you will learn what the City of Austin has learned about the status and distribution of mussels in the Austin area.

If you would like to register to attend the live webinar, you can click here . If you are unable to attend the live presentation, the recorded webinar and associated PowerPoint will be available for download from the Texas Waters Specialist page a few days after the event.
