Docent Training for Ivory Bill Interpretive River Guides

When: Saturday – March 24th
Time: 10 am – 12 noon
Where: Foundation of Southeast Texas – 700 North St – Beaumont – 77701 – Conference Room #2
Trainers: Terrie Looney – Kathryn Walker – Bruce Walker
Session: We will give you and introduction to our “Neches River Topics” and reference materials that are available.
We will offer tips, strategies, and techniques to reach and engage your passengers on the Ivory Bill.
We will discuss how the NRIB program enhances our ability to fulfill our mission to preserve, protect, and promote the Big Thicket.

Note: This class is open to anyone that wants to participate in the training and sign-up as a volunteer. Please feel free to forward to anyone that you feel might have an interest in this training.

· Docents will guide pre-arranged Saturday Public Tours and Private Charters that are requesting Eco-History Tours.
· Docent assignments and dates can be planned out weeks in advance.
· Docents are provided topics and reference guides on various topics.
· Docents are not expected to learn a scripted dialogue.
· Docents will be able to offer their own unique topics of interest and expertise.
· Docent will board and depart with the clients for the two hour tours (no extra duties regarding boat operations).
· Docents are not required to be deckhands or vessel safety officers.
