Jim Giocomo, Ph.D.
Central Region Director
American Bird Conservancy
Webinar Description:
Through cooperation with state, Federal, NGO and individual Texas residents, the Black-capped Vireo (Vireo atricapilla) was recently designated as recovered under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. With the recent delisting of the Black-capped Vireo, conservation partners, including Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, agreed to assess abundance and productivity annually for a period of 12 years after the delisting to ensure the identified threats do not impact the long-term survival of the species. This cooperative population monitoring project is designed to meet the requirements of the Post-delisting Monitoring Plan (2017) through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This presentation will review the results of the first several years of post-delisting monitoring.
