VMS opportunity: Outreach Booth
Our booth at the Cotton Gin Festival will be set up on Saturday the 27th. This year is going to be slightly different. We will set up our tent just behind the Gin ( wind block!) and close to all the children’s activities. We plan two shifts one from 9am to just after lunch and one for the afternoon until 5pm as the managers there are wishing vendors and presenters to stay at least until 5 so as to not disturb the fun taking down mid event.
We will be concentrating on children this year with plenty of games and activities to spark the love of conservation in the next generation as is our mission. Many of the children have parents in tow so we will need the displays to engage them in their childrens’ fun.
The organizers had a meeting and we would like to arrange the following:
- We need 4 volunteers to set up and take down the tent.
- PLEASE LABEL ANYTHING YOU BRING WITH YOUR NAME so everything gets back to its rightful home. If you have something but can’t make it we could arrange for someone to pick it up.
- We will need 4 or 5 6’ tables. I understand the ag centers each have a table and they will need picking up. Chris Morrison has offered one and she needs it picking up as she cannot attend. Could someone from each county who collects a table also pick up a TMN tablecloth (in the display board case) to go on the tables.
- We need volunteers to man each shift.
- We are looking for easels to hold trifolds and posters.
If you have any suggestions for activities or completed projects that are of particular interest to children (who will be passing through with parents and we wish them to stick around to get involved in activities) please let us know.
We already have arranged: bluebird, bat and butterfly (pollinators) games etc.
Thank you everyone. Lets make this event a real success this year.
