Rally around the bumblebee!

April 24, 2018 by Sheri Wilcox

Each year TMN members participate in the choice of the re-certification pin by voting for their favorite symbol. Let’s make 2019 the year of the bumblebee by casting our votes at https://goo.gl/forms/TVeKqxQTVypOmNrZ2. The voting deadline is May 1, 2018.

In support of your vote, you can use the following or draft your own:

Bumble bees are important pollinators of wild flowering plants and crops. They are generalist foragers, and thus do not depend on any one flower type. However, some plants rely on bumblebees to achieve pollination. Loss of bumble bees can have far ranging ecological impacts due to their role as pollinators.

The Gideon Lincecum chapter has a number of initiatives(Pollinator gardens, education programs) to help all pollinators and Bumblebees are often the first we see in the spring and then throughout out the year. It’s an important species to us and the environment. Plus we think it would make a great looking pin!
