NPSOT: Discussions on Pollinators, Plants and Planting

September 11, 2017 by

The Native Plant Society of Texas Williamson County chapter meeting on Thursday, Sept 14th will feature members Sue Wiseman, Gary Bowers, and Barbara Wright.

Gary will discuss pollinators by focusing on the following questions: What is a pollinator? Why are pollinators important? Who are our pollinators? What dangers do pollinators face?

Sue will then guide us through a discussion on some of our favorite native plants by focusing on the plant’s role in a pollinator’s lifecycle. Is Turks Cap a larval host plant, a source of nectar, or a fruiting food source?

In addition, Barbara Wright of Wright’s Nursery, will help us get excited about the planting season. She will present some of the interesting and unique plants she is supplying to our NPSOT booth at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center’s Fall Native Plant sale (Oct 20, 21).

Join us at Thursday, Sept. 14th at the Georgetown Public Library @ 402 West 8th Street for this engaging presentation. The meeting will begin at 7PM, upstairs in the Hewlett Room. Arrive early for fellowship and to check out our seed board. See you there!
