Guest Speakers

The Lower Trinity Basin Chapter regularly hosts guest speakers who share their knowledge and expertise on topics related to natural resources, wildlife, ecology, and conservation. These presentations provide valuable learning opportunities for both members and visitors.

Guest Speaker – March 2026

Dr. Jon C. Lohse

Archaeologist | Gault School of Archaeological Research

Presentation Topic: The Gault Archaeological Site

Dr. Jon C. Lohse is a professional archaeologist with more than three decades of research experience studying early cultures of the Americas. His work focuses on Paleoindian and Archaic period societies in the south‑central United States and Central America. He has conducted research in Texas, Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize and is involved with research at the Gault School of Archaeological Research.

His presentation explored the Gault Archaeological Site in Central Texas, one of the most significant early human occupation sites in North America. Excavations there have uncovered evidence of human activity dating back more than 16,000 years, helping scientists better understand when the first people arrived in the Americas.
