Chapter Meeting with Guest Speaker

November 7 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

All members, guests, and visitors are invited to the chapter’s monthly meetings. Each meeting starts with a potluck (dinner on us for guests and visitors), followed by a speaker and the business meeting. Each meeting location rotates among the three chapter counties, so check the calendar for individual meeting locations. We will try to specify meeting locations at least a week or two before each meeting. Meetings are open to the public. Please join us!

6:00    Potluck

6:30    Speaker: Lance Tahmakhera, The Comanche People.

Lance Tahmakhera is a great-great grandson of Comanche Chief Quanah Parker. With his parents staying close to the Comanche traditions and culture, much of his youth was spent at pow-wows learning family stories about ancestors and the tribal ways. He’s been asked to share those stories with various schools/universities, historical groups and organizations. The stories shared vary from the origins of the tribe, life on the plains and reservation, Cynthia Ann and Quanah Parker, to current day events. Also shared are children stories that were passed down through the family. Mr. Tahmakhera will share his stories with us, covering the origins of his tribe, customs, Quanah and Cynthia Ann Parker, and transition from life on the plains to the reservation and up to the present day. He also will include information about animals and plant life.

Born and raised in Fort Worth, Lance Tahmahkera was with Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth for the past 45 years and recently retired from the Imaging Department Texas Health Harris Methodist Neighborhood Care and Wellness, Burleson.
