Certification Requirements

Requirements for Certification the first year

  1. Complete the Texas Master Naturalist Volunteer Training Course, a series of lectures and field studies on various nature topics. No tests; no grades to pass. Just show up and pay attention as interesting speakers share their knowledge and experience.
  2. Complete 40 hours of volunteer service on nature projects of your choice that have been approved by the Chapter Board members.
  3. Complete 8 hours of lectures or workshops on nature topics of your choice. Many of our members complete this requirement by attending the monthly Chapter Meeting which includes a guest speaker.

Requirements for Certification after the first year

  1. Complete 40 hours of volunteer service on nature projects of your choice that have been approved by the Chapter Board members.
  2. Complete 8 hours of lectures or workshops on nature topics of your choice.
