Sal Scibetta
Secretary and Biologist, Texas Turtles
Sal holds a Bachelor in Arts in Political Science from Texas A&M and a Bachelor in Science in Biology from Auburn University.
Sal has been working with and keeping reptiles for over 40 years. He started by catching turtles and snakes as well as keeping some as a kid growing up north of Houston. This was the seed that grew a lifelong passion for reptiles and amphibians. Keeping that passion over the years he was in the Education Department at the Montgomery Alabama Zoo, a Reptile and Amphibian Keeper at San Antonio Zoo and the Reptile Department Manager at Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo. He was also a regular volunteer for the Padre Island Sea Turtle Recovery Program monitoring nesting of the Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle. Currently he is the Secretary and a Biologist for the non-profit conservation group Texas Turtles. He is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserves. Sal is a graduate of AAMN Class 45.
