Jacob Eickstead
Jacob Eickstead currently works for the CIty of Austin as an Environmental Program Coordinator. Jacob holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Texas State University and attended Texas A&M as graduate student studying soil science. Jacob spent one year in California mapping soils for orchards and vineyards. He then worked as a Natural Resource Specialist for the Railroad Commission of Texas inspecting surface coal mine reclamation. After that he went to work for TxDOT for three years as a Vegetation Specialist specializing in erosion control, wildflower propagation, and monarch butterfly protection. For the last three years he has worked in Environmental Compliance for the City of Austin, is a Certified Arborist and a Geoscientist-in-Training. In his free time he’s an avid fly fisherman and has a long, but arduous goal of fly fishing every river in the State of Texas. He also enjoys woodworking, gardening, and is a devoted reader as well.
