Headwaters at Incarnate Word

Our mission is to preserve, restore, and celebrate the rich natural, cultural, historical, spiritual, and educational values of the headwaters of the San Antonio River, especially within the 53-acre Headwaters Sanctuary. Protected by a conservation easement agreement, the Headwaters Sanctuary is the only nature sanctuary in the heart of San Antonio.

Headwaters at Incarnate word is a nonprofit 501c3 Earth care ministry of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Invasive Plant Management Program
  • Restoration Projects
  • Native Pollinator Projects
  • Environmental Education (AT): Guided Birding & Nature Walks, Workshops/Presentations, & Environmental Film Series

Mornings: Wednesdays, Saturdays, & 2nd Mondays
