Dear all, I’m leading the night bird walk at Lick Creek this evening 7.30-9.30pm. We will try for Chuck-Wills Widow, Common Nighthawk (I had my first of the season a couple of nights back) and whatever owls we can rustle up. Fingers crossed we will also run into some other cool night time critters and get to hear the coyotes! Please meet me in the main parking lot at 7.20pm it should be fun.
Please remember a good portion of the trails are probably flooded and dress accordingly, I will be wearing rubber boots and am anticipating wading through flooded trail areas. At least part of the trip will be after dark so bring a flashlight, and you will want to wear long sleeves and pants and to cary bug spray. Since we will be out for a couple of hours you will also want to bring water. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s. Since this is a wildlife viewing orientated trip I’d suggest we keep this walk pet free.
I will also be helping Bruce Neville at Bioblitz tomorrow and will be back out in the park around 8.30am. It is not clear what our role tomorrow will be, we could just be manning the booth.
Thanks,
Mark
