Observe a prescribed fire

April 4, 2018 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Some folks from A&M’s Ecosystem Science and Management department will be conducting a prescribed burn at the Range Area (behind the airport) at 1pm Wednesday April 4. You are invited to observe the fire from a safe location near the astronomy observatory. If you would like to attend, please arrive by 1pm. Drive past the main administrative building (1183 Fishtank Rd), bear right past the pavilion, continue down the gravel road and park next to the observatory. Jake Gaster, research associate and manager of the property, will give a short explanation of the objectives of this prescribed fire as well describe the overall restoration plans for the site. We aim to begin lighting around 1:30 or 2pm (depending on the weather).
If you can’t make it to this burn due to the short notice, we hope to conduct another prescribed fire at the Range Area sometime in the next couple of weeks (hopefully with a bit more advance notice).
