Fall 2026 Class Schedule: From August 29 until November 3
Become a member of the Coastal Prairie Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist™ program! We are looking for people who are interested in contributing to the beneficial management of Texas natural resources by serving as volunteers with our chapter.
The Fall 2026 training course will begin on Saturday, August 29, and conclude Tuesday, November 3. Class sessions are held on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings, and feature a combination of in-person and virtual learning. In-person field sessions are held in and around the chapter’s service area of Fort Bend, Waller, and Wharton Counties, and may include the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension campus in Rosenberg, Houston Museum of Natural Science Sugar Land, Brazos Bend State Park, Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge, as well as other parks, facilities, and venues.
Registration for Fall 2026 will open on Monday, July 6 at 8am. Space is limited so registering early is advised. Once your application has been reviewed and approved, prompt payment will reserve your place in the class. The course fee is $135, which includes the current year’s membership dues and a copy the curriculum textbook, Texas Master Naturalist. (Couples willing to share a textbook are eligible for a combined fee of $235.) Trainees who complete the requirements for initial certification will also receive a green polo with the TMN logo and a magnetic name badge that can be worn at outreach events.
To fully certify as a Texas Master Naturalist, trainees must complete a minimum of 40 hours of initial training (provided by the course), an additional 8 hours of advanced training, and a minimum of 40 hours of approved volunteer service in Texas, with at least 20 of those hours taking place within our service area of Fort Bend, Waller and Wharton Counties. Trainees are eligible to earn volunteer service and advanced training hours beginning on Day 1 of training, and have up to one year to complete certification.
