University of Houston Coastal Center and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are hosting the third annual Coastal Prairies Restoration Practitioners Forum on April 17-18, 2024 in Anahuac, TX.   We will be addressing topics that will apply to any practitioner in the coastal prairie universe.  Session lengths are structured to allow presenters time for in-depth discussion with attendees in the auditorium and in the field.  Topics are chosen to be useful to decision-makers who are working to restore coastal prairie ecosystems.

The registration fee of $50.00/person includes both days of the forum, field site visits, Wednesday Social & Dinner, Thursday lunch, and break refreshments.  Indoor sessions will be held at the Anahuac American Legion Hall located in Fort Anahuac Park in Anahuac, TX.  We will discuss restoration strategies at field sites where prairie restoration and management are in progress.  The forum includes outdoor field trips to nearby areas such as the Pintail Unit of Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge (currently under restoration.)  We encourage all attendees to book hotel rooms as soon as possible because lodging demand can suddenly increase during the mid-April time frame as bird migration goes into full swing.   See website for more details.

The forum is being planned by Evelyn L. Merz – Program Director at the UH Coastal Center and  Tim Siegmund – Private Lands Program Leader at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.  For more information contact elmerz@central.uh.edu.
