Gain confidence in your birding skills. This is a 3 week series of 1 hour sessions on woodpeckers. Woodpeckers are fascinating birds with amazing physiological adaptations and behavioral habits. This interactive series discusses how their anatomical structure protects them from injury, then takes a closer look at the species that are common along the Upper Texas Coast.

We’ve created this fun virtual workshop series based on our personal videos to help you gain confidence in the field, from the comfort of your home!

We’ll build upon your skills from week to week, as you learn and practice:

• Valuable observation techniques you can use in the field
• Tips and tricks for differentiating between similar species
• How to use behavioral clues to help with identification
• How to find more species using habitat clues
• Ways to remember songs/calls of common species
