AT: Building a Community of Prairie Citizens Panel Discussion

October 27, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$25

Join a panel of horticulture and conservation experts as they explore the importance of drawing on the prairie legacy of America to inspire a “prairie citizenry” to use new native landscapes to connect with our tallgrass past while also building a better future for all.

Panel:

Carol Davit, Executive Director, Missouri Prairie Foundation
Francisco J. de la Mota Daniel, Ph.D., Director of Horticulture, Houston Botanic Garden
Lisa Morano, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Urban Agriculture and Sustainability, University of Houston-Downtown
Cassidy Johnson, Ph.D., Professor of Biology, Houston Community College

Context:

Throughout central North America, the once vast domain of tallgrass prairie has been reduced to mere fragments. These original remnants remain vital habitat for many prairie-dependent plants and animals, yet barely register on America’s conservation radar. Prairie plantings, conversely, are gradually becoming more mainstream.

Non-member fee of $25 for panel discussion includes general admission to the Garden. Members receive a $10 discount.
