AT: Citizen Science Summer Series with NASA GLOBE Explorer Mission – Mosquitoes in Science

In person 4-part series NASA GLOBE Observer Mission: Mosquitoes in Science presented at Harris County Precinct 4 parks Klebs Wood Nature Center & at John Paul Landing Park.  Park locations: John Paul Landing Environmental Education Center, 9950 Katy Hockley Rd, Cypress, TX 77433.

What is community science and how does “NASA’s GLOBE Observer” play a role in it? Join Precinct 4’s Park Naturalist Anita Schiller, PHE, and guest expert Dr. Russanne Low, in an introduction on how you can contribute to this engaging NASA-hosted mosquito science project.
Session 2: Mysterious Mosquito Biology, NASA Citizen Science 
(updated location as 6/14), now meeting at John Paul Landing park – Tues June 18 10:30am – 12:30pm 
Discussion of mosquito biology, mosquito blooms, vector competency, good mosquitoes, and why we can’t outsmart or outspray them.
Session 3: Local Mosquitoes = Local Problems

Challenges to surveillance, sampling and control methods used by scientists in public health control programs. Discussion to include tracking of virus activity and which criteria are used to inform operations for safety.
