Writing is one of the best ways to document your adventures, whether you’re camping overnight, backpacking for weeks, or just out for the day enjoying nature. You might be interested in keeping a personal journal, blogging, submitting writing for publication or simply sharing with friends and family. We will explore ways to make your writing compelling and vivid, how to describe what you see in nature, and how to research information to enhance the reader’s understanding. This workshop is for people at every level of writing skill and any level of outdoors experience. There will be optional opportunities during the workshop to do some writing exercises. Ruth Nasrullah, the workshop leader, is a professional journalist and creative writer who is also a backpacking enthusiast, a Texas Master Naturalist and a Certified Interpretive Guide. She has provided a similar workshop at the Appalachian Long Distance Hiking Association’s annual gathering.
