Three unique workshops on 2/16, 4/20, & 5/18
All educators are welcome at our workshops: classroom teachers, outdoor educators, scout leaders, homeschool parents – anyone who wants to learn fun, hands-on ways to teach children about science and nature.

February 16, It all makes Sense – Observation skills are key to a student’s understanding of science and nature. In this class we’ll play games and engage our senses in activities designed to help you experience the world around you in new ways. Take home supplies for a scent-based game to use with your students. REGISTER
April 20, Herbology 101 –Want to incorporate plants into your classroom lessons but unsure how to start? Join this class to learn new ways to teach plant biology, life cycles, and food webs. We’ll explore the Arboretum pollinator garden, dissect a flower, and take home a botanical craft made in class. REGISTER
May 18, Sundown in the Savanna – Insects and other invertebrates abound in the savanna ecosystem. Learn how to use a sweep net to sample invertebrate populations while practicing your identification skills using a dichotomous key. We’ll each make our own DIY sweep nets and “No Bones” dichotomous key activity sets to take home. REGISTER
Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is an approved CPE provider for Texas Education Association. Teachers who attend our workshops receive official CPE credits and proof of attendance for each workshop.
