GOING NATIVE — A GARDEN TRANSFORMATION
WED 5/11/2022 @ 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
ZOOM LIVE CLASS
PRESENTER: SUZY SHAPIRO
COMPLIMENTARY

Going native means gardening with native Texas plants which are adapted to our Gulf Coast climate. Native Texas plants tolerate our heavy clay soil and are suited to our climate extremes and than non-native species. They also provide excellent habitats and food for small insects, pollinators and wildlife. They are typically lower maintenance and require less water than other plants because they are adapted to our soil and climate.

Suzy Shapiro will share her home garden design, plant list and steps she took to transform her yard from grass to a diverse backyard wildlife habitat garden for enjoyment and beauty.

PRESENTER
Suzy Shapiro is a longtime supporter and volunteer of Urban Harvest. She serves on the community gardens committee and is an enthusiastic native plant gardener and member of the Native Plant Society of Houston Chapter, Houston Urban Gardeners and community gardens champion.

If you cannot attend a live class, there are no refunds or substitutions. Class recordings will be sent out after the class as available.

(At registration you will receive two emails, one is a receipt and the other will be sent a few days prior to the class with event details that include Zoom link and contact information. Contact education@urbanharvest.org for questions.)
