The Grassland Management Workshop & Prairie Tour will take place in New Boston, Texas on Thursday, June 1st and Friday, June 2nd. The workshop and prairie tour will assist landowners with understanding grassland ecology, best management practices, and provide opportunities to learn about resources and assistance programs.
The event will kick-off on Thursday afternoon with a tour of Talbot Brothers Preserve, a 366-acre prairie remnant and bottomland forest protected by the Native Prairies Association of Texas. Experts in grassland management and ecology will be on-site to discuss and answer questions about the prairie remnant.
The workshop on Friday will feature expert talks on grassland management, landowner assistance programs, conservation easements, and restoration. In addition to scheduled talks, a landowner panel will talk about their experiences at different stages of restoration and conservation management before moving into open audience questions. Friday’s workshop will conclude with additional tours of NPAT’s Mary Talbot Prairie and a Pastures for Upland Birds (PUB) program site. Lunch will be provided.
