AT: Hunting for Conservation (HfC) Workshop

April 30, 2019 @ 12:00 am - May 1, 2019 @ 12:00 am

FREE

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) would again like to invite ALL TPWD Employees and Texas Master Naturalists to a workshop entitled “Hunting for Conservation” brought to you by the award-winning Conservation Leaders for Tomorrow (CLfT) Program.

TPWD provides this workshop to staff, colleagues and partners free of charge in a fun-filled, 1 ½-day training format. National CLfT staff and instructors, as well as some of our very own TPWD Hunter Education staff, will lead the workshop and activities. We’ve designed this workshop for individuals with little to no hunting/outdoor knowledge and skills, as such activities relate to our mission, our individual jobs, our constituents, and customers. NOTE: An additional ½ day is added on Wednesday afternoon for those wanting to complete their hunter education certification including live-fire exercises (shotguns and air rifles) and a final exam. The last two years’ pilot programs were a big success and we wish to build upon that. We’re asking that all participants complete a pre- and post-survey to help us evaluate the workshop, its anticipated outcomes, participant response, and to help fine tune/improve future workshops. It’s our hope that staff, and our partners, will be able to attend and enjoy this workshop as we strive to maintain and enhance our strong outdoor and conservation heritage in the Lone Star State.

The date and location of the workshop are April 30-May 1 at Camp for All, an outdoor camp near Burton/Brenham. NOTE: All costs for the workshop are covered except for travel to and from the camp.

Please look over the attached draft agenda and register by April 5th at the following link: https://clft.org/form/april-2019-hunting-for-conservat. Registration will be capped at 50 participants.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation letter, a pre-survey link and a list of “what to bring” to the camp. For camp information, map & directions, please visit the Camp for All website https://www.campforall.org/; however, you must register at the above CLFT link in order to attend.

If you have any questions, please contact Steve Hall, TPWD Hunter Education Coordinator, steve.hall@tpwd.texas.gov (512-389-8140).
