Wildscapes Workshop, a one-day, not-to-be-missed educational event and local native plant sale, is back after taking a year off due to Hurricane Harvey. This year’s 19th almost-annual event will involve four featured speakers in an effort to provide up-to-date information on the relationship between native plants and our local wildlife and environment, and Houston’s prairie history, culture, and its future.
When you attend this year’s 20th anniversary Wildscapes Workshop event, you will:
Explore a historical and personal perspective of Houston’s native landscapes and what can be done to save them.
Learn about Odonates, particularly dragonflies and damselflies, and the benefits of creating ponds to promote native wetland wildlife.
Discover landscape design techniques to mimic native plant habitats in your home wildscape to define creative spaces where humans and wildlife can live together.
Learn the soils and light conditions that our local native plants prefer, know when they bloom or fruit, their fall colors, companion plants, and much more. Discover which plants benefit specific animals, birds, and pollinators.
Have an opportunity to buy local native plants from the Wildscapes Workshop plant sale.
