OF COURSE YOU HAVE NATIVE BEES IN YOUR GARDEN!” Presented by Nancy Shafer and Emma Dow, Fort Bend Master Gardeners Entomology Group
Both tiny and large, native bees are in our home gardens even though gardeners may not be aware of them. As pollinators, they are just as important as the European honey bee for crops, wild spaces and home gardens. Learning about some local native bees and their habits will allow home gardeners to appreciate the role they can play in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. The Entomology Group of the Fort Bend Master Gardeners consists of highly trained master gardeners who specialize in insect issues in the home garden. Call them on the FBMG Hotline at 281-342-3034 to help identify insects and tell you ways to encourage the good ones.
