Turtles are so common at the Arboretum that it’s easy to forget how bizarre they are. These ancient reptiles protect themselves with bony armor made from their own ribs and backbones. They survive in deserts and oceans, can grow to the size of a small car, and some can even breathe underwater – using their butts! In this class we’ll learn about these amazing animals with the help of our live turtle ambassadors.
Notes: Wear walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
