AT: Prescribed Fire Workshop & Spring Prescribed Burn

February 16, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free
Flyer - Prescribed Fire Awareness Workshop Environmental Institute of Houston

The University of Houston is planning a prescribed burn at its Texas Institute for Coastal Prairie Research and Education (UH Coastal Center) in La Marque this spring. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is preparing the burn plan. We need volunteers to assist in the execution of the burn, ideally with some scheduling flexibility. Since a prescribed burn cannot proceed unless certain weather parameters are met, an exact burn date cannot be set far in advance. If you think you would like to volunteer at the Institute’s prescribed burn in the spring, please attend the Prescribed Fire Awareness Workshop being taught by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department on Saturday, February 16 from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Environmental Institute of Houston at UH-Clear Lake campus. The workshop invites all landowners, students, and community volunteers who want to know more about prescribed fire.

Please see the flyer below to RSVP to Wendy Reistle for the workshop. If you are interested in volunteering for the spring prescribed burn at the Institute, please contact me at elmerz@hal-pc.org or leave a message at 713-644-8228.
