A Texas Stream Team Standard Core Water Quality Citizen Scientist Training for new volunteers will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Recreation Center at Bear Branch Park, 5310 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands.

This training is hosted by the Houston-Galveston Area Council, in partnership with The Woodlands Township Environmental Services, and is open to volunteers interested in conducting water quality monitoring in the greater Houston-Galveston area.

This training is limited to 10 participants, so register below to reserve your spot.

Both Phase I and Phase II of the training will be completed in this one-day training session.

Phase I (morning session): Hands-on training in a classroom setting.

Lunch: 30-minute lunch. Please bring a sack lunch and drinks. To make the most of the training time, we will not be leaving for lunch.

Phase II (afternoon session): Conduct monitoring procedures in the field under supervised conditions. Dress appropriately for the weather as this phase is done outdoors.

The Texas Stream Team program is a statewide network of trained volunteers and partners working together to collect quality-assured data about Texas surface water bodies and to ensure information is available to all Texans. There are more than 400 volunteers collecting water quality data from lakes, rivers, and streams in programs across the state.
