Our speaker for June is Shawn Benedict who will be talking about prescribed fires, longleaf pine restoration, rare plant surveys, and forest pests and pathogens.
Benedict has worked for The Nature Conservancy for ten years, holding multiple positions. His current position is that of the East Texas Forest Preserves Manager, based in Silsbee, from where he manages nine properties. He also serves statewide on the prescribed fire team.
We gather at 6:30 pm to sign in and enjoy some social time. Chapter business is taken care of at 6:40 pm, and the program starts at 7:00 pm. As well as the featured speaker, we have a Plant of the Month, and seed and/or plant giveaways.
