Did you know that Houston hosts one of Texas’ largest bat colonies? Over 250,000 Mexican free-tailed bats reside above Buffalo Bayou under the Waugh Drive Bridge year-round.
Bats are an important part of the ecosystem – plants depend partly or wholly on bats to pollinate and they aid in controlling the insect population, just to name a couple of reasons.
On Wednesday, April 29, we’re hosting a Facebook Live Q&A with Urban Wildlife Biologist Diana Foss where you can ask questions about the bat colony and their significance in Houston.
Following the Q&A, we’ll live stream the “stream” of bats as they emerge from the Waugh Bridge for their nightly feeding.
