AT: Winter Birding Hike – Galveston Island State Park

In person.  Location: Galveston Island State Park.

Program Focus:  Seasonal – Winter Bird migration and species identification. 

It’s winter on the island and a great time to learn about our feathery winter residents. Join us on an exploration to learn basics of birding, identify resident species, and catch sight of some uncommon birds. All ages are welcome. Meet at the Clapper Rail trailhead at 9 AM. The program will wrap up around 10 AM.

What to Expect:

  • Ranger led program
  • Easy, relaxing hike (0.75 miles) with no shade
  • Wildlife and plants
  • Birds!

What to Expect:

  • Park permit (received at park booth before program)
    • Entry fee is $5 for adults and FREE for children 12 and under.
    • Entry fee Free with State Parks Pass.
  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Bug spray/sunscreen
  • Binoculars
  • Water
