Are you passionate about birds and conservation? Join us on February 6th for an inspiring talk all about the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory (GCBO) – a vital research and educational facility nestled on 34 acres of Columbia Bottomland Forest in the heart of Lake Jackson, Texas. GCBO administers critical conservation programs both locally and globally, working tirelessly to protect our feathered friends. Our special guest, Executive Director Martin Hagne, will share insights into how birds are truly doing today, and how YOU can make a difference in their future.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of bird conservation and how the GCBO is making an impact. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a bird lover, or someone looking to get involved, this event is for YOU!
Martin Hagne was born and raised on the Swedish west coast, where his grandfather instilled a love for nature at an early age. He moved to the United States, and the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, in 1979 and turned his focus towards wildlife viewing and conservation concerns.
Martin serves as the Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory in Lake Jackson, TX. Previously he served for 13 years as the Executive Director of the Valley Nature Center in Weslaco, Texas, a non-profit environmental education facility. He has also worked many years as a Field Biologist doing baseline studies for threatened and endangered species and habitats.
Martin has served on several national, state, regional and local environmental appointments, committees, and boards. He also leads birding field trips both in the U.S. and foreign locations. Birding, nature viewing, native plants, conservation issues and environmental education are great passions for Martin.
