Become a member of the Coastal Prairie Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist™ program! We are looking for people who are interested in making a contribution to the beneficial management of Texas natural resources by being actively involved in our chapter, which covers Fort Bend, Waller and Wharton counties.
Our Spring 2023 training class will begin with an in-person meeting on Saturday, Feb 18. The other classes are held Tuesday mornings by Zoom and field sessions are on Saturdays. The program lasts around 10 weeks with about 16 sessions. The schedule will be posted here soon.
There is a limit of 24 registrants – classes fill up fast so register early!
After this Initial Training is completed, in order to become a Certified Texas Master Naturalist, the candidate will provide at least 40 hours of volunteer service in the Fort Bend, Waller and Wharton communities (up to 20 hours may be completed outside of those counties). Candidates will also obtain 8 additional hours of Advanced Training. Training courses offered by the Coastal Prairie Chapter conveniently cover both the Initial Training and Advance Training requirements for certification as a Texas Master Naturalist™. Only the volunteer service hours will be needed and you can start on them from Day 1 – no need to wait!
The course fee will be due at the time of approval of your application. As part of the course fee, each student will receive the textbook “Texas Master Naturalist Curriculum”. Couples who share a textbook will get a discount.
ONLINE REGISTRATION! The easiest and fastest way to register will be through the Online Registration Form which will be available here.
