We have been invited for the second year in a row to have a booth at the Richmond Tourism Day event put on by the Economic Development Director of the City of Richmond.
The event will be held at the Fort Bend Museum and will be on Tuesday, May 10 from 4-8pm. The theme is going to aim for a ‘staycation’/tourism/fun in your own backyard sort of vibe. So we are thinking that the Birding WOW would best fit this theme.
The City of Richmond has already enlisted a DJ and are working on a bounce house/obstacle course and some food trucks. They want to have tourism and family venues to fill the exhibit yard. They will also be reaching out to other family-oriented attractions (bowling, theater, skating, painting, etc.) to see if they will either set up a booth or send brochures – or at least some discount tickets for the door prizes.
One shift of volunteers is needed to arrive at 3:30, set up the booth and promote birding to the visitors. We also need someone from the team to go to the TMN office on Band Road and pick up the Birding WOW and one or two tablecloths. Then we need someone to volunteer to take the WOW and tablecloths back to the office one day later that week. We might have to bring our own table, that will be confirmed later. To volunteer, check for the SignUp Genius that has been emailed to all chapter members.
Last year they had free food for volunteer and attendees!
