VSP: JB Harrison Long Point City Nature Challenge

April 28 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am

What: Group Participation in City Nature Challenge
Where: JB Harrison Long Point Ranch
Time: 8:00 am to 11:00am
What to Bring: Smartphone with app (available for download on Google Play or iTunes), extra battery life!, Digital Camera, binoculars ruler, field journal, field guides, water

Participate in this fun challenge to see which city in Texas (we are grouped with Houston) can document the most species during April 25 – 28 (our field trip day is 4/28). It is easy to participate by joining this field trip or making observations on your own using the iNaturalist app. With the app, you simply take a picture of a plant or animal, and the community will help identify which species it is. You’re certainly welcome to add your own ID. Any observation in the greater metropolitan area of Houston will count during the 4-day challenge. You can participate by exploring the life in your backyard, in your local park, or on this or any othe field trip . You can also help with IDs for other people’s observations to increase our species count, come to a bioblitz, or even hold your own event! Any living thing counts except humans, domestic dogs and domestic cats.
