VSP KPC Bioblitz

Join renowned local naturalists to survey the amazing array of life on the Katy Prairie Preserve. BioBlitz is a biological survey to find and identify as many species as possible conducted during a short period of time in a designated area.

Katy Prairie Conservancy’s Indian Grass Preserve will be the location of this exciting event.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Lead a team as a subject matter expert
  • Assist subject matter experts  in the field to locate and identify interesting specimens
  • Photograph interesting specimens
  • Photograph specimens in studio environments at the base camp
  • Assist with activities open to the public at the base camp

Put your expertise as a dragonfly, butterfly, snake, bird, or flower lover to good use.  Learn more about your expertise by working with scientists and other naturalists.

Volunteers are also needed as scribes, equipment carriers, hosts, runners, etc.  Bring your friends and family.  Sunrise to Sunset or as long as you can volunteer.

Public activities will be from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm where the field office, or “home base” will be open to view the different species that are collected during the BioBlitz.
