VSP Nature Walk With FBCIL at JB Harrison Long Point Ranch

The James B Harrison Foundation is welcoming the Fort Bend Center for Independent Learning (FBCIL) to Harrison-Long Point. The FBCIL is a community-based non-profit, independent living advocacy organization created by and for people with disabilities; they promote the full inclusion, equal opportunity, and participation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of community life.

They expect a group of 30 awesome individuals in attendance who are seeking an introduction to  native plants, animals, and other aspects of wildlife often found on the trail, through a guided nature walk on the ranch. They are preparing for an overnight summer trip where they will engage in hiking and fishing, among other nature activities. Those attending are not low in mobility and will be able to walk our uneven natural trails on the ranch.

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 29th, from 10am-12/12:30pm at Harrison-Long Point; volunteers should arrive by 9:45am.

They are requesting 6-12 volunteers for the estimated 30 in attendance; however, the more the merrier as it would lower the participant to volunteer ratio and would make it more enjoyable for our visitors. Volunteers will lead the group on a guided nature walk around the various habitats near our picnic area at Long Point, introducing the group to plants, mammals, birds, pollinators, and other wildlife encountered. Volunteers are welcome to bring their sack lunch and eat with the group after the nature walk.

All participants must sign this waiver (unless you have recently done so)
