Even though we are suspending work on the demo and butterfly gardens at Seabourne, there is work to do in the plant nursery. Bump ups are needed and some organizing of the plants in the prairie nursery. There may also be planting in the prairie, depending on available volunteers.
We are experiencing attacks on the Seabourne Gardens from feral hogs right now and due to this work has been suspended on the regular work days. We are working with the Rosenberg Parks and Recreation Department to address this situation. If we are having other activities, such as bump ups or prairie plantings, we will put these on the calendars.
The purpose of the garden is to educate the public about prairie plants and how people can use them in their home gardens. We also see some interesting critters! We supply seed for plants that will be planted in the Seabourne Prairie Restoration Project as well. Plots are open for adoption, as small or large as you want. We will always help adopters with plant selection and getting plants.
So, bring your gloves, hand tools, sunscreen, and water. We would love to have you join us!
