Monthly Chapter Program – June 5th, 2025

“Unwanted Guests: Battling Invasive Plants & Pests in Texas Landscapes and Fields”  with Ashley Morgan-Olvera

TMNCPC 2025 June Chapter Program

Join us on Thursday, June 5th at 7:00 PM at the Rosenberg Civic Center for our monthly program for an eye-opening presentation on invasive plants and pests affecting our landscapes, prairies, and agricultural areas. Our presenter Ashley Morgan-Olvera will include a special focus on the alarming spread of Citrus Pests and Diseases in East Texas.

Discover how to identify common invasive species and learn effective methods for removal and control. You’ll also find out how to report sightings through TexasInvasives.org .

Whether you’re a gardener, landowner, farmer, or just passionate about preserving Texas ecosystems, this talk will equip you with the tools to take action.

About Our speaker:

Ashley Morgan-Olvera received her M.S. in Parasitology from Sam Houston State University in 2011. Shortly thereafter, she joined the newly-formed Texas Invasive Species Institute (TISI) as a Field Biologist; directing multiple invasive beetle, snail, honeybee pest and parasite surveys throughout the years. Knowing public education is vital to the management and prevention of invasive species, she acquired the TexasInvasives.org program from the Wildflower Center in 2020 to reignite a statewide invasive species outreach program. Now, she is the Director of Research and Education for both entities, and looks forward to continued outreach and prevention of invasives in Texas.

Coastal Prairie Chapter programs are free and open to the public.  This program will be held in-person at the Rosenberg Civic Center, , 3825 TX-36, Rosenberg, TX 77471. Please plan to arrive at 6:00 pm for refreshments and social time. The program starts at 7pm.

A Zoom option is available. After registering below, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
