Hurricane Beryl
The category 1 hurricane passed through SCNP uprooting Arboretum trees, breaking branches , snapping trunks, and flooding the surrounding area.

Niagara Bottling “Perk Your Park” Project – Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The ribbon cutting ceremony followed months of upgrades to the Arboretum made with the assistance of a $75,000 grant from Niagara Bottling Co. The upgrades included covered picnic tables, improved irrigation and drainage, crushed granite pathways, and more than 100 new trees.

Fisher-Scientific Tree Planting Day
15 employees from Fisher-Scientific (FS) volunteered to help plant trees in the Arboretum. Together the FS employees and 20 TMNCPC members planted 18 large trees (bur oaks, live oaks, nutall oaks, and Shumard oaks). These trees had been purchased as part of the Niagara Bottling “Perk Your Park” Project.

Niagara Bottling “Perk Your Park” Project – Groundbreaking Ceremony
The ceremony was attended by TMNCPC leaders as well as representatives of the City of Rosenberg and Niagara Bottling Co.

Niagara Bottling “Perk Your Park” Project – Grant awarded to TMNCPC and City of Rosenberg
Niagara Bottling Co. announced that the SCNP Arboretum was one of 3 projects to win a $75,000 grant that will fund “improvement projects centered on increasing access to nature and improving community health and well-being.”
Girl Scout Tree Planting
Girl Scouts from Troop 152119 Lone Star Treasures Community in Richmond planted 27 trees including oaks, red mulberries, cherry laurels. 10 members of TMNCPC provided guidance and support to the scouts.
Apache Corp. Grant – Tree Planting
TMNCPC volunteers planted 104 trees in the Arboretum including live oaks (50), wax myrtles,possumhaw hollies, eastern redbuds, black gum Tupelos, cherry laurels, and a red mulberry.
TMNCPC received these trees from an Apache Tree Grant Program intended to “support our community partners in the long-term growth and sustainability of the areas in which we all live and work.”
Boy Scout Tree Planting
Boy Scouts from Troop 309 planted 21 trees and shrubs, including 1 cherry laurel, 1 parsely hawthorn, 2 black gums, 2 rusty blackhaw viburnums, redbuds, 7 oaks (live, white, willow, overcup), and 5 bald cypresses.
