Seabourne Wetland Pond

The Seabourne Wetland Pond is a vital habitat for water birds and mammals, providing them with protection, water and food. And don’t forget the fish! We encourage you to visit the wetland area of SCNP and don’t forget to bring your camera.

Created by chapter members in 2013, the installation of this area of the park has completely transformed the land into a productive and natural wildscape. Herons have created a rookery on the island in the middle of the pond.
In 2018, a beaver was seen building a small dam in the pond. Dragonflies buzz all over the water’s surface and rest on the many native flowering plants at the water’s edge.

Watch this short video to learn how the Wetlands Pond was created by the Coastal Prairie Chapter!
